I have had diverse interests from childhood, combining the physical & biologic sciences, various art forms & the outdoors. In college the sciences predominated, resulting in a BS in Biology & a career in Medical Technology. After retirement the pendulum has swung back toward the arts with concentration on nature photography. With GPS, camera & tripod I have been exploring & documenting the wonders of the West Virginia Highlands, especially the Dolly Sods Wilderness area of the Monongahela National Forest. My goal is to capture and convey the uniqueness & beauty of this region in all its seasons & moods. I especially like the interplay of fog & light, being challenged to capture those unique moments which come fleeting & unannounced. I began shooting digitally in 2004. I currently use Canon 5d Mark II and process my own photos from camera to matted prints using pigment inks & archival techniques & materials. |
